Hamden Area Refugee Resettlement Taskforce (HARRT)
We are happy to announce that HARRT is now working with IRIS as Community Co-Sponsors of a family of five from Ukraine. In May we welcomed parents and three children, ages 6, 9, and 12, who are now living in fully-furnished temporary housing in Hamden. We stocked their pantry and provided everything needed to live comfortably while they are settling in. Now, the hard work of rebuilding their lives has begun.
Background
HARRT is a partnership between a collection of Hamden, Connecticut area residents and Spring Glen Church (SGC), a United Church of Christ. SGC is a non-profit religious institution located at 1825 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT. Together we are co-sponsoring a third refugee family in conjunction with Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services (IRIS), New Haven, CT.
As many of you know, our first two families were from Afghanistan. With your generous support, the families are now self-sufficient and living in New Haven. One of these families was delighted to welcome a baby daughter/granddaughter just a few weeks ago. Please know that your support was crucial to their well being and deeply appreciated.
How you can help
We need your financial support to make this happen.
- HARRT’s financial goal is to raise $10,000 to support this third family
Donate directly below:
HARRT prefers on-line donations via the link below, which allows you to receive an immediate acknowledgement of your tax-deductible donation of any amount. This link is SGC’s regular on-line donation network that we have augmented to include a separate and distinct connection to a new account, the HARRT account. Acknowledgement/Receipt letters for donations of $250 or more will be sent to donors by an SGC representative.
Write a check:
Donors preferring to write checks may send their donations payable to Spring Glen Church (mail to SGC Treasurer, 1825 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT 06517) with “HARRT” written in the memo line and include the donor’s name, email address and physical address. Check donations under $250 will not be acknowledged in writing.
All funds remaining at the end of the project will be forwarded to IRIS or will be used for the resettlement of another family.
